The musical Annie, which ran for around 6 years on the Broadway, which set a new record for Neil Simon Theatre, based on comic strip by Harold Gray's Little Orphan Annie music inducted by Charles Strouse. The comic strip is based on the book of Thomas Meehan which is lyrics by Martin Charnin.
The eleven year old girl, Annie was the part of orphanage house which was under charge of the Mrs. Hannigan. The role was played by Carol Burnett who was a bully over orphaned girls. The play was named It's the Hard Knock Life. Like all orphans living in the orphanage house, all girls are constantly hoping that one day they would be adopted by someone to become their parents. Annie decides to go in endeavour to search for her parents herself. During her time, she ran into the friendly dog Sandy. But later on, the consequences were bizarre as she was returned to orphanage once again. The Warbucks Assistant, Grace Farrell, picks her up to live in Warbucks palatial home of Oliver daddy for the holidays of Christmas.
The initial tension between the two of them transformed it into loving each other immensely. Daddy Warbucks and Annie were happy together which lead to the thinking of Warbucks intending to adopt Annie as his daughter. But in all these times, Annie was certain that she will find her future parents without knowing that the person she is living with wants to make her his daughter. So, Warbucks offered a reward in presenting Annie's real parents to her. Miss Hannigan Rooster and the girlfriend plotted a scheme pretending that they are Annie's parents and entitled to collect the reward. In fact, they did claimed the prize and later on, it was found out that they are not Annie's real parents as they have died a long time ago. Later on, Annie became the daughter of Warbucks and they lived happily together.
The entire movie was completed and got released in the year 1982 by Columbia Pictures starring Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, Ann Reinking as Grace Farrell, Carol Burnett & friends playing role of Mrs. Hannigan, Bernadette Peters as lily and Tim Curry playing as Rooster. They movie was a success and stayed on for couple of years.
